By Air

Mysore airport serves Mysore city, it is also known as Mandakalli airport. The airport is near the village of Mandakalli and at a distance of 10 kilometers from the Mysore city center. If one wants to reach Mysore from other cities in India, they can also fly to Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore. By Train

The national highway NH-12 connects Mysore to the town of GundLupet which is at the state border. From here roads are forking and going to Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Its outer ring road is a 6 lane circular road that encircles the whole city at a distance of 6 kilometers from the center of the city. With the implementation of ITS (Intelligent transport system) in Mysore, managing city buses and ferrying commuters has become very efficient.

Commute within the city

The popular means of commuting within the city are its buses and auto-rickshaws (3-wheeler taxi). KSRTC buses as well as some private run buses provide a cheap means of conveyance. The fancy tonga (horse-drawn carriages) are a favorite with the tourists. A lot of tongas can be seen near the Mysore palace and its railway station. The new public bicycle sharing system (PBS) called Trin-Trin is also gaining popularity in the city. The aim of this mode of transport is to minimize motorized transportation and protect the city from pollution and other environmental hazards.
