About Dakshina Kannada

Dakshin Kannada is a district in the state of Karnataka. It lies about 300 kilometres to the west of states capital – Bangalore. Headquarters of the district are at Mangalore. It is one among the two biggest cities in district other being Puttur. The district shares its boundaries with districts of Udupi, Chikmaglur, Hassan and Kodagu. It also shares borders with the state of Kerala to its south.

The district is regarded as one of the most prominent districts in Karnataka second only to Banglore Urban. Geographically the district enjoys a distinct position.
