About Gulbarga City
Gulbarga is district headquarters of a prominent Karnataka district of the same name. The city is officially known as “Kalaburagi”. Gulbarga district is situated in northern Karnataka. It shares borders with states of Maharashtra on the east and Telangana on the west. The city of Gulbarga has Bidar, Chincholi, Sedam, Chitapur, Jevargi, Afzalpur, and Aland as its neighbors. From Bangalore, the distance of Gulbarga is 627.8 kms. The city is closer to Hyderabad, Telangana from where it has a distance of only 211.9 kms.
The climate of Gulbarga is generally dry. Seasons mostly follow the same pattern as northern India with summers lasting from February to June. It is followed by monsoon till late September and then dry winters till January. The city has many sightseeing attractions mainly, Gulbarga fort, Shri Dattatreya temple, Buddha Vihar, Khwaja Bande Nawaz dargah, Chandrampalli Dam etc. Lifestyle wise Gulbarg offers all the amenities of a modern city along with many educational institutions of high repute.
Transport & Connectivity
Gulbarga has a well-connected network of roads and railways. The city also has its own airport.
Air
Kalaburgi airport is situated 12 km east of Gulbarga. Airport is connected to the capital city of Bangalore. One can take direct flights to Gulbarga after landing in Bangalore.
Train
Kalaburagi Junction Railway station is one of the A1 category railway stations. The station has trains arriving from nearly all major parts of India. From Mumbai, Mumbai CSTM-Hyderabad express connects Mumbai Pune and other cities of Maharashtra to Gulbarga. Similarly, Jaipur- Yeshvantpur suvidha express starting from Jaipur passes through stations of Rajasthan, M.P., Gujarat, Maharashtra, before reaching Gulbarga. Hence it provides smooth connectivity between Gulbarga and these states other than that Varanasi-Mysuru express, Rajkot-Coimbatore express etc. are trains connecting Gulbarga to train stations all over India.
Road
Gulbarga has bus connectivity from all nearby cities. Both public and private transport buses arrive at Gulbarga at regular intervals. It takes about 12 hours from Bangalore to reach Gulbarga. From Hyderabad, journey time is about 3 .5 hours. Tickets to buses can be pre-booked online.
