MPT – Master of Physiotherapy Course Details

• The Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy is a two-year program consisting of classroom teaching, self-academic activities, and clinical posting.
• In the first year, the theoretical basis of physiotherapy is refreshed along with research methodology and biostatistics.
• The students are rotated in all areas of clinical expertise during this period.
• Students are required to choose their study for the dissertation and submit a synopsis.
• During the second year, the students will be posted in their area of specialty. They are required to complete and submit their dissertation.
• The learning program includes seminars, journal reviews, case presentations, case discussions, and classroom teaching.
• Some of the clinical postings are provided at other reputed centers in the country in order to offer a wider spectrum of experience. The students are encouraged to attend conferences, and workshops to enhance their knowledge during the course of study.
• University examinations are held at the end of the first year and at the end of the second year.

The duration of the MPT degree or Master of Physiotherapy Course is of 2 Years.

During the course duration:

• Students will gain experience in clinical training and undergraduate teaching partly.
• Cultivate appropriate professional relationships in a multidisciplinary setup, patient management, and co-partnership basis.
• Conducts research activity in order to validate techniques & technology in the practice of physiotherapy.
• Learn to provide honest, competent, and accountable physiotherapy services to the community.

3. Master of Physiotherapy in Cardio-Respiratory Disorders (MPT-CRD)

1. Qualifying Examination

A Candidate seeking admission to Master in Physiotherapy (MPT) course :

i) B.Sc. (PT) or Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree with a full-time program, with a minimum 3½ years / 4 ½ years duration from a recognized University.

ii) Candidates must have completed 6 months of compulsory rotating internship in MPT Colleges recognized by the Indian Association Of Physiotherapists and other Gvt bodies.

iii) Candidates who have passed BPT through correspondence or Distance Education programs are not eligible.

2. Marks

The admission of students to a Master of Physiotherapy course shall be based on merit provided that:
i) Candidates have secured BPT or B.Sc Physiotherapy degree with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
