Paper Pattern and Marking Scheme
Overview
XAT or the Xavier Aptitude Test is conducted for admission to MBA courses. Over 800 MBA colleges accept XAT scorecard. The exam is conducted once a year, by XLRI Jamshedpur.XAT 2021 was conducted on 3rd January 2021. It is an online computer-based test mode exam. It has 100 total of questions from four sections. In this article, we will cover the exam pattern, section-wise weightage, sectional details, marking scheme and sectional time limit in XAT as well as frequently asked questions on XAT Exam Pattern.
XAT Exam Pattern: Section-wise weightage
Sectional weightage in XAT is not the same for all sections. It is also to be noted that the total number of questions has been varied in XAT over the years. In 2021, there were 100 total questions with weightage as shown below:

- XAT does not have a sectional time limit.
- However, it does have two time-bound parts.

XAT Exam Pattern: Sectional Details
1. Verbal and Logical Ability
In verbal Logical ability section questions were asked of grammatically incorrect sentences, grammatically correct sentences, jumbled paragraphs, fill in the blanks, critical reasoning and reading comprehension.
2. Decision Making
In the decision making section 7 sets of three questions. They were of business decisions and ethical dilemma question type.
3. Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation
Questions of all difficulty levels were asked from Arithmetic, Numbers, Geometry, Algebra, Table, Venn Diagram, Scatter Plot etc.
4. General Knowledge
General Knowledge questions were asked from a wide range of topics including national and international events, general science, business, economy, geography, political personalities, history etc.
