B.Sc Nursing Course Structure

B.Sc nursing course is of 4 years of academics which also includes clinical postings.

  • I Year: During first year B.Sc Nursing students will be taught the English language and subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Nutrition, Biochemistry, Psychology , Microbiology, and basics of computer science. Students will be having demonstration, practicals, Simulations, Skill labs, Clinical postings and observation methods along with theory classes under “Nursing Foundations subect in “I & II semester”.
    This subject covers basic concepts of  health and illness, Health Care delivery Systems, Communication and Nurse patient relationship, Documentation, Reporting and Clinical reord keeping, Vital signs (Body temperature, Pulse, Respiration, Blood pressure etc), Equipment and Linen, Infection control, Medical & Surgical asepsis Precautions, Hospital Admission and discharge, Patient education, Nutritional needs, Diagnostic testing, Oxygenation needs, First Aid & Emergencies etc.
    In I year, students will appear for 5 theory papers and practical examination for “Nursing Foundation” subject.
  • II Year: During second year nursing students will be learning about the subjects like Applied Microbiology and Infection Control, Pharmacology, Pathology, Genetics, Adult Health Nursing (Medical Surgical Nursing), and practical training related to Adult Health Nursing, Midwifery/Obstetrics and Gynecology,  subjects. Students shall have 4 theory and 2 practical papers during the final examination.
  • III Year: Third academic year during B.Sc nursing course is about Child Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Nursing Management and Leadership, Nursing Research and Statistics, Health/Nursing Informatics & technology, Forensic Nursing and Indian Laws.
    III year examination for B.Sc Nursing course covers 4 theory papers and 2 practical exams.
  • IV Year: Fourth or final academic year during B.Sc nursing course covers subjects like Midwifery & Obstetrical Nursing, Management of Nursing Services & Education and Community Health Nursing part II.

Final year examination for B.Sc Nursing course covers 2 theory papers and 2 practical exams followed by Competency assessment during final semester.

B.Sc Nursing Admission

Admission in Bachelor of Science in Nursing course in Nursing colleges in Bangalore is as per the norms of Indian Nursing Council and Raghiv Gandhi University of Health Science. Most of the private nursing colleges in Bangalore offeres direct admission in BSc Nursing on first come first serve basis.

How ever few private universities in Karnataka and Gvt colleges conducts their own entrance exams.
