With a wide vision of practitioners of traditional medicines, the government has a plan to set up the Karnataka state AYUSH University at Sogane village near Shimoga officially known as Shivamogga which is the central part of the state of Karnataka. During the session, the bill is passed in the Legislative Council at SuvarnaVidhanaSoudha which is the legislature building of the state of Karnataka.
The Ministry of AYUSH has focused on Ayurveda courses, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homoeopathy, and Sowa Rigpa (Tibetan Medicine) for medical practices. More and more research will take place on these courses, which first happened in South India said to Medical Education and Health minister Dr. K Sudhakar.
Now, the district started to emerge and engage in education, training, knowledge production, and Innovative initiatives by coming up on over 100 acres of land. The MP of Shivamogga B Y Raghavendra told that this provides employment to 500 people or indirect employment to over 5000. From all this, if the university starts drug production then local people get an opportunity to work in or contribute to all development of the Shivamogga district. Also, the state government has sanctioned Rs. 20 crores for its development.
According to D H Shankaramurthy’s initiative, a new dimension will be given to establishing an ayurvedic medical college in Shivamogga which was supported by former CM B S Yediuyurappa. But when talking to BJP leader D H Shankaramurthy he said from all over the globe people looking for alternate medicine. Nowadays, more and more colleges offer Ayurveda courses for good research and development that empower the body, mind, or soul of the natural elements.
There are 953 colleges under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences which includes 105 AYUSH Colleges and a huge workload on universities. Due to this, authorities are not able to focus more on Ayurveda medicines. There is a total of three doctors including two from allopathy and one from AYUSH will be recruited at primary health centers in the state said, Dr. Sudhakar.
However, a question arises what is the rationale behind another university although there is a dedicated university Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences for medical education, there is no need for another facility said MLC Marithibbegowda.
