[ + More ]At the beginning of their career, nurses may expect to earn around 15,000 to 20,000 rupees per month. If hired by a reputable hospital this salary may go up to 40,000 rupees. In central government and many state governments, the salary can even go up to 55-70 thousand rupees.
A report published in 2016 by FICCI called the Heal report on nursing reforms revealed that there are only 1.7 nurses per thousand people in India. The ideal ratio according to WHO is 2.5 per thousand people. This and other reports clearly demonstrate a wide demand-supply gap in the nursing sector in India. Hence there are tremendous opportunities in the field. The scope is only going to rise as India expands its medical infrastructure which is always a priority in a developing country like ours.
In cities like Bangalore the pay is generally more than other areas. The working opportunities are also a lot more in such areas as a large number of hospitals and health care facilities of all scales are centred around urban areas.
