    Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) course is an undergraduate degree course. The student from the class 12th science stream can join this course. This is a four-year course which is offered by all engineering colleges across India. IITs and NITs are considered as top engineering colleges. Many engineering colleges also offer this course under the name of Bachelor of Engineering (BE) for this professional undergraduate course.

    More than 40 branches or specializations are offered currently under this course in various engineering colleges. Computer science engineering is probably one of the most sought after nowadays.
    Curriculum and course delivery of technical programs such as B.E or B.Tech is planned and regulated by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
    Admissions to B.Tech course take place through national level/state-level/institute-level engineering entrance examinations. A good score in the engineering entrance exam leads to admission to top b tech colleges in India.

    B Tech Admission Eligibility

    Basic eligibility for admission to B tech course with minimum scores in class 12th is as mentioned below.

    B Tech admission after class 12th

    • Pass in class 12th with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the optional subjects from Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practice, Agriculture, Engineering Graphic and Business Studies.
    • A minimum score of 45% in Physics, Mathematics with the above mentioned optional subject for general category students is a must.
    • Students from SC and ST category must have a minimum of 40% in Physics, Mathematics, and one optional subject.

    B Tech Lateral Entry Admission after diploma

    • Passed Diploma examination from an AICTE approved Institute; with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in appropriate branch of Engineering / Technology.
    Note: Above mentioned is the basic academic qualification as per the norms of AICTE. Students are also required to qualify in engineering entrance exams to undergo further admission counseling process.
