Ayurveda is the ancient system of medicine known for its natural methods of treatment. Its nature-focused and holistic approach towards healthcare has contributed to its growing popularity across the globe. BAMS is an undergraduate degree level course in Ayurveda. The central council for Indian Medicine (CCIM), a statutory body, is the supreme regulatory body for BAMS course. Moreover, colleges and universities are required to obtain the permission of Dept. of AYUSH, Union Govt.of India in order to conduct the course. BAMS course duration is of total 5 and half years. In Karnataka, the course is offered under Rajiv Gandhi University of health sciences, Bangalore. A person who has completed 2 years PUCs or equivalent with PCB and English can apply for BAMS course. NEET exam, conducted by NTA has also been made compulsory for taking admission in BAMS.
