The MD Kaumarbhritya and Bala Roga course gives a specialization in Pediatrics and child care related problems. In the MD course, in this specialization, topics related to Vayobheda, Anatomical and Physiological differences in child compared to adult are covered. It also teaches the basic concept of growth and development of a child and imparts knowledge about methods of preparation of Kalpana such as Lehya, Syrup, drops.
Students will learn about development of Kaumarbhritya tantra in ancient and contemporary literature, childhood Samskara and will also be taught about varieties of ingredients used to formulate a drug that helps in curing children. Students will be taught to give various natural and herbal remedies to the regular aliments of a newly born child.
Rising health concerns and awareness about the side-effects of western medicines are the factors driving the market of Ayurvedic products.
Ayurveda industry is a booming job sector with growing popularity across the world. Thus, career prospects after completing a specialized PG degree in the field are very bright. Going by the trends in the market right now, a career in Ayurveda seems commendable.
According to this The Times of India report, a forecast by World Health Organization (WHO) based on demand and supply chain has showed that the global Ayurvedic and Herbal product market will be worth about US $5 trillion by the year 2050.
