MD Kaumarbhritya and Bala Roga is a PG course in Ayurveda. It is a three-year duration course offered by various ayurvedic medical colleges across the country. In Karnataka, the course is offered under Rajiv Gandhi University of health sciences. The course is recognized by the Central Council of Indian medicine CCIM which is the supreme governing body in the ayurvedic courses. It comes under the Ministry of AYUSH. To join the course you will need to have completed a BAMS degree recognized by CCIM.
It is one of the important departments of neo-natology and paediatric in Ayurveda. Kaumarbhritya; is an art of nursing and healthy bringing up of infants, Child care, food style, and physical and physiological growth of children, its hazards and management ,purification and bettering of mother’s milk or any characteristic deficit traits. Any diseases and disorders relating to children including nutrition of children and immunization also fall under this branch.
Ayurveda has been in India for more than thousands of years and has gained a lot of prominences here. Diseases that cannot be treated with western medication can be treated with Ayurveda products. Thus the demand is global and one can have a promising successful career. Admissions to the course are through an entrance exam called AIAPGET which is conducted by NTA.
