COVID-19: JNU, UGC NET, PhD, NEET, TTE & several other entrance exam postponed

The entrance exams including JNU, UGC, NET and IGNOU Ph.D. and several others got postponed due to the situation of lockdown. The decision has taken by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The honorable Minister of Human Resource Development, Ramesh Pokhriyal stated; “This includes admission examinations of Jawaharlal Nehru University UGC NET, IGNOU Ph.D., ICAR exam, NCHM-G and management course. The deadline for these exams had been extended for one month.”  

The  CBSE, NIOS, and NTA have received the direction from the Ministry of Human Resource Development for preparing a revised schedule of examination. The autonomous bodies, as well as NCERT, have been requested to maintain an alternative academic calendar.

The main objective of the Ministry to take the steps to ensure the students’ ease and acceptability for these exams.

The central government also decided to stop the NEET examination in the view of the risk of coronavirus infection. The admission cards have not been issued and now the ministry has prepared a notice to postpone this examination.

A senior official also stated that; “After the nationwide lockdown is implemented, it is no longer possible to conduct this type of examination.”

The exam of JEE Main also got postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak and lockdown situation. 

The same happens to the  Indira Gandhi National Open University which has to be extended the last date for the form submission for the term-end examination to be held on April 30, 2020, without any late fee. Students can submit their exam form on the official website on IGNOU. April 30 is the date for the submission of the assignment which has also been extended.

A senior official of the HRD ministry also stated; “In compliance with the order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on March 24, all the offices of the Ministry of Human Resource Development and its autonomous and subordinate institutions will remain closed for a period of three weeks.”
