Uttara Kannada is a district in the state of Karnataka. It was formerly known as North Canara. On the east, the district is bordered by Dharwad and Haveri districts, On the south of Uttara Kannada, there are Shivmogga and Udupi districts. While on the west it has Arabian sea and state of Goa and Belagavi district to the North. The district is at a distance of 450 kms from State’s Capital Banglore. Karwar city is the administrative headquarters of Uttara Kannada.
